[Amite, La.]— April Piper has been named Human Resources Director of Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite effective Oct. 12. Both the Human Resources Certification Institute and Society for Human Resources Management recognize her as a certified Human Resources professional.

“We are excited to have April join our leadership team,” affirms Hood Memorial Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer Mike Whittington. “She brings both a strong formal education and practical hands-on experience to this important role. I am confident that our employees, as well as our organizational performance and capabilities will benefit from her expertise.”

As Hood’s Human Resources Director, Piper will oversee all aspects of the hospital and Amite Rural Health Clinic’s employee services, including but not limited to personnel requisitions and recruitment, job applications and new hire processes, employee education, employee benefits and compensation, as well as employee wellness. She also will help to ensure compliance with accrediting agency standards and direct the development and implementation of marketing and public relations initiatives for the hospital and the rural health clinic.

With nearly a decade of human resources experience achieved, Piper comes to Hood from North Oaks Health System’s Employment Center, where she has served for over six years and quickly rose through the ranks to become Employee Services Lead in 2019. Prior roles included Employee Services Specialist for three years and Human Resources Generalist for two years with North Oaks, as well as Human Resources Assistant/Generalist with Elmer Chocolate in Ponchatoula for two years.

Piper earned a Master’s degree in Human Resources through Capella University based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She also holds both a bachelor’s degree in Management with a Human Resources concentration and a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management with an Information Systems concentration from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana.
